The Graduate Program is a ten-month program, giving you the opportunity to work in a range of areas across the department and work on policies and programs that directly affect Australians. If you want to challenge yourself, and have access to cutting-edge learning and development through formal workshops, seminars, virtual programs, and on-the-job learning, then this is the program for you!
You will be part of an energetic social club, organising a range of fundraising events such as happy hours, bake sales, and an annual trivia night, giving you plenty of opportunity to network with other graduates and other employees.
The Graduate Program offers:
- a workplace that has a great culture and sense of community
- professional development, including structured learning and development activities
- opportunities to be involved in a range of networks, social and fundraising events
- an attractive remuneration and conditions package
- relocation assistance for new graduates who need to move, to take up the program.
Apply to be a Graduate in 2020
Our graduates are passionate about supporting national policies and programs that help Australians find and keep employment, and work in safe, fair and productive workplaces.
They embrace diversity and value the contributions, experiences and perspectives of others.
The department encourages and welcomes applications for the Graduate Program from Indigenous Australians, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and mature-age people.
We are looking for people who have strong communication skills, are curious about the world around them and keep an open-mind to new ideas and thinking outside the box.
We understand how overwhelming a recruitment process can be, so this year we’re making it less stressful by going 100% digital! We’re making our process as simple and streamlined as possible. If you get to the interview round, you’ll be interviewed using an online, recorded interview platform. You can do the entire application process in your own time and from the comfort of your own home.
This means no face-to-face interviews or group assessments!
Applications open early March 2019.
We have five streams that our graduates can work in:
- Quantitative Analysis
- Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
We welcome applications from graduates with any degree into our generalist stream. For more information about degree requirements and the type of roles our graduates will undertake in each of our streams, see our Graduate Disciplines page.
