Employment Options — Pathfinder

Through the interactive Pathfinder game, young people will take part in virtual and real-world activities to increase their motivation and develop employability skills that will build their confidence and ability to enter the workforce. Pathfinder will incorporate gamification principles to motivate participants to reach goals and complete the program.

Young people can participate in 12 face-to-face group sessions of at least 3 hours per session, in addition to online activities. During the on-boarding phase, a participation plan will be negotiated with the Provider to ensure a seamless entry into the program.

From there participants will go on a self-discovery journey by completing various activities through the Pathfinder game to explore their interests and career aspirations. As participants complete activities they will progress through 4 levels of the game: Explorer, Researcher, Planner and Builder.

Once participants reach the final level ‘Builder’, participants will be supported to transition out of the initiative while continuing to access mentor support for up to 3 months.

Pathfinder is for young people aged 15-24 years who:

  • have left school prior to completing Year 12;
  • do not have a clear employment goal or planned employment pathway; and
  • are not engaged in education or employment.
