iEmpower Youth Inc - iEmpower Youth Cooperative


Participants in the iEmpower Youth Cooperative initiative will contribute to the establishment and management of a graffiti removal and cleaning cooperative, developing their employability skills and understanding of business management principles.  They will also gain the experience necessary to branch out into other industries, including event preparation, security and property maintenance.

iEmpower Youth Cooperative is for young people aged 15-24 years who are who are currently unemployed.

Participants will have access to the program for at least 9 weeks. Initially, participants will be assessed on their skills and interests, including vocational and non-vocational barriers. Following this, they will complete a one week induction program focusing on life skills, teamwork, workplace culture and pre-employment preparation.

The next phase involves completing accredited training in:

  • Certificate III in Cleaning Operations (20 days)
  • Construction Induction Training White Card (1 day)
  • Rail Safety Card (1 day), and
  • Traffic Controller TC1 ticket (1 day).

Once this training is completed, participants will be provided with a job placement  for up to 12 weeks in the ‘Scrubs’ Cooperative, and paid full award wages.

In the final phase, participants can access a management and career development program to assist them to find other employment. Further, an industry mentor will be assigned to each participant to provide support and career development advice, accessible until the end of the program.
