Understanding your participation requirements

Thursday 9 August 2018

From 20 September 2018, some job seeker’s will have changes to their participation requirements. These changes will apply to job seekers aged 30 to 49 and aged 55 to the Age Pension age.

From 20 September 2018, the Australian Government is strengthening participation requirements for some people receiving an unemployment payment, including mature age Australians. Changes to participation requirements recognise that many older Australians are working longer.

The changes are aimed at encouraging more mature age people to actively undertake activities to improve their chances of getting into paid employment and off welfare, particularly in their first 12 months on payment when they are more likely to have recent workforce experience.

More information about the changes to participation requirements is available on the page Understanding your participation requirements.
