Explore your career outlook

Exploring future careers

Trying to work out what jobs will be in demand in the next five years can be a challenge.

But workers can help future-proof their career by accessing a handy online resource called Job Outlook.

Job Outlook identifies where the jobs will be in five years and has information about Australian careers, labour market trends, employment projections and estimates on job openings up to 2022.

Department of Jobs and Small Business Labour Market Analyst, Ivan Neville, said Job Outlook can provide insights into existing jobs and the industries that are expected to grow into the future.

‘There’s a raft of easy-to-find career information that explores tasks, skills, prospects and pay for hundreds of jobs across 19 key industries,’ Ivan said.

‘Job Outlook has the ability to shortlist and compare occupations, and has information about skills needs and specialisations.

‘The Career Quiz can particularly help young people find out more about their work preferences and explore different career options.’

Job Outlook has recently been given a design update, making it even more responsive and accessible for students, people actively looking for work and anyone considering a career change to explore work and study options.

An initiative of the Department of Jobs and Small Business, it has a large and diverse user base and is the second most-viewed website hosted by the Department.
