The SRC Act covers employees of the Commonwealth, Commonwealth authorities, the Australian Capital Territory Government and a small number of private corporations, which self-insure their workers’ compensation liabilities under the scheme.

Firefighter provisions of the SRC Act
On 7 December 2011, the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Amendment (Fair Protection for Firefighters) Act 2011 amended the disease provisions contained in section 7 of the SRC Act to include presumptive provisions for some cancers suffered by firefighters. The Department of Jobs and Small Business has commenced a review of these provisions.
